Every Time I Flush The Toilet,
The Tank Leaks. What Should I Do?
If you notice that your toilet leaks whenever you flush it, you will need to have it repaired immediately. One of the most common causes of high water bills is a leaky toilet. Usually, if your toilet leaks when it is flushed, the problem is that the wax bowl ring needs to be replaced. This is a job best left for plumbers because it involves removing the toilet from the floor. It is also a very dirty job, so if you don’t have experience removing toilets and replacing wax bowl rings, you will want to contact a plumber.
The plumber will turn off the water supply to the toilet and then remove the toilet from the bolts that hold the toilet to the floor. Sometimes, the plumber may need to remove the toilet from the bolts with a hacksaw. These bolts can become extremely tight and can be very difficult to loosen. Once the plumber removes the toilet, he will remove the old wax bowl ring that is located underneath the base of the toilet. After removing the old wax ring, the plumber will install a new one, and make sure that the toilet is then situated firmly on the bolts.
