My Shower Drains Slowly, What Can I do?

If your shower is draining slowly then you are probably aware that you have clogged pipes.

Most people will first try a chemical clogg remover to try to solve the clog themselves, before trying other methods of drain cleaning.

This is a controversial method.  Some say that these products are harmful to pipes; others say just the opposite... that this isn’t true.

However, if you have a serious problem, chemical drain cleaners, will be of little effect. One problem that you may have if you use these products to clean your drains is that the solution may back up into other pipes. Because of that possibility, you should use these products carefully. If they were to back up into your washing machine or dishwasher, you could have a serious problem on your hands.

Additionally, you may find that the drain needs to be snaked. Most plumbers agree that chemical cleaners are used frequently by consumers, yet they are rarely effective. It is also recommended that you
use a small electric snake to ensure that you effectively remove the clog. If your shower is draining slowly and you have tried plunging and using liquid drain cleaners, it is probably best to call a local plumber.
