The Benefits of Whole House Water Filtration

You may have heard of a whole house water filtration system for private well water, but did you know that you can also have one specifically made for city water?

City water, or water from a public source – which is approximately 85% of the U.S. – can have many issues that a whole house water filtration system can solve.

To start, municipalities disinfect the water of bacteria and other microorganisms by chlorinating it. Chlorine is bad for your health in many ways. It is not recommended to drink chlorinated water on a regular basis or to even bathe in it. Chlorine is a known carcinogen. Not to mention the drying and dulling effects it has on hair and skin.

If the municipality is not chlorinating the water, chloramines are often used as the alternative. The by-products of chloramines are much the same as chlorine, although its effects are less studied.
